Hillary Clinton is a previous United States Secretary of State, U.S. Senator, and First Lady of the United States. She served under President Barack Obama from 2009 to 2013 as the 67th Secretary of State. At the beginning of her career, Hillary operated under Jimmy Carter’s effective campaign for president while her spouse Bill Clinton was designated as Attorney General. While Clinton was first lady of Arkansas for a dozen years, she managed the Arkansas Educational Standards Committee, co-founded the Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families, and worked for the boards of the Arkansas Children’s Hospital, Legal Services, and the Children’s Defense Fund. Hilary Clinton is also a well-known women’s rights activist. In early 2007, Hillary Clinton publicized her idea to strive to be the first female president. However, Clinton passed her nomination when it became clear that Barack Obama held a majority of the delegate vote. During her term as secretary of state under Obama, Clinton used her position to make women’s rights and human rights a fundamental talking point of U.S. initiatives. I do believe that Clinton’s political position made it easier to accomplish all that she has; however I do believe that she could have accomplished the same achievements even without her political power. Hilary Clinton matters a leader because she is a women in politics, which is extremely rare and commendable. She is also the 1st women to run for U.S. Presidency. Overall, Hilary Clinton is a great example of all that women can achieve, and is an inspiration to many women in the U.S. http://www.biography.com/people/hillary-clinton-9251306?page=1
